Apistogramma borellii yellow are great apistos for beginners. They are readily available to hobbyists and thrive in a multitude of water conditions. Our apistos come acclimated to water with moderate hardness, 7.2 ph and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
When you receive a borellii yellows (and some other fish) from us, you can usually just pour the them directly into a net and put them directly in your tank. In some cases, with fish that are fragile or more susceptible to harm, you will want to take more time. But borellii yelllows can typically handle that type of “acclimation method” and seem to bounce right back. We have many reports of the fish eating the same day they arrive at their destination.
We have also witnessed that they will breed in neutral water with no work whatsoever. We’ve had numerous spawns in our borellii yellow tank and have done nothing but feed them and do regular water changes. Although we sell the pairs, the fish continue to pair up and breed with new stock.
Wild forms are found in the Paraguay, Parana and Uraguay drainages, as well as, Brazil, Bolivia and Argentina. There are so many color forms in the borellii group, it makes classifying species within the group very hard. Luckily, borellii yellow apistos have a bright yellow stomach, so identifying them is fairly easy. Other forms look very similar, including apistogramma borellii paraguay which we also stock regularly.
All of our apistos are tank-raised and sold in m/f pairs.
They’re classified with numbers A101-A105.

Hey Sam and Ryan, I’m hoping for a response. I’ve sent a number of messages but still haven’t heard from you. The last shipment I got from you is still doing pretty good. I lost one ram to a siphoning/cleaning accident and one triple red male to unknown illness. Several of the rams have white patches on their heads but still eat well etc. Its not ich but I’ve treated the tank for both ich and fungus disorders. I’m writing again for some answers/suggestions, I hope, and to ask; –if I got three pair of the borelli opals, could I ask for additional females? I’d pay of course. I also wanted to look into the possibility of getting some additional female blue/gold rams, and female triple reds, again, paying for them. But, most important, I have to figure out what is going on in my tank first. Hope to hear from you. Thanks
